Maverick’s curiosity got the best of him, so he jumped from the top of the Mantra Headquarters. He is sharing the result here so you don’t (necessarily) need to do the same.

Jumping off the 60th Floor in Nocturne: The Short Answer

If you jump down from the 60th floor of Gozu-Tennoh’s Mantra Headquarters in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, you will return to the entrance of the Mantra headquarters. Although the fall will not kill you, you and your party will be reduced to a single hitpoint.

Is It Worth Jumping Down From the Mantra Headquarters Roof?

Well, there is no treasure, special achievement or other reward. That means that, before you conclude your business with Gozu-Tennoh, the answer is a definite no. Jumping down is not worth it at that point. There is zero benefit to jumping down from the top of the tower. You’ll even lose some time and resources to bring your party back to health.

After you have met up with Gozu-Tennoh, the answer is a bit more ambiguous. Jumping down at that point is a shortcut. Healing your party will also likely not require more resources than fighting your way back through the headquarters. There also aren’t any more story elements that unlock after meeting Gozu-Tennoh. You may want to visit Isamu in jail, but you could also do that before going to the top floor.

On the other hand, the shortcut is a pretty short one. Going by foot only involves taking the elevator back down to the third floor, covering a small distance to the second elevator and heading to the first floor. From there, you can either go to the small terminal to teleport back to the city or just walk out. Considering your encounter with Gozu-Tennoh gives your protagonist two extra demon slots, you may also want to recruit an Oni and/or another demon on your way down. A bit of experience never hurts, either.

In conclusion, jumping down is not a deathtrap but also doesn’t give much advantage. I understand the curiosity, though. After all, I was curious enough to try it even if I was a bit nervous. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is not the type of game to pull any punches, after all.
